You can do this with any fabric, just hem the raw edges or line it. With weaving, you can make the fabric the exact size and no hemming required.

Weave plarn (or any material) fabric about 18" - 19" wide (your preference how wide). Make a 1" header, weave 34" and then make another 1" header for a total of 36" of cloth. Zig-zag the headers to keep them from unraveling.

Make handles, you'll need 2. Your preference as to width and length. I make them anywhere from 42" or longer and about 2" wide, each. I find that wide handles is easier on the hands, especially of you're going to use these bags for grocery shopping. These bags can handle a LOT of weight.

Sew on the handles to the right side.

Sew the side and bottom seam.

You can use the tote as is or square off the corners. See video for squaring off the corners.

Enjoy your tote!

Added by: rigidheddleweaving
Tags: shopping, tote, plarn, bag, diy, weaving, rigid, heddle, rigidheddle, loom, rigidheddleweaving, repurpose, recycle, green
Date: 2011-07-25

Warp a Floor Loom Front to Back

This is how I warp my floor loom front to back. After beaming your warp, move the lease sticks towards the front of the loom right behind the shafts. This makes it easy to see which thread comes next in the threading order. Threading is even easier if you count the SHAFTS and NOT the heddles ;)</p>

Added by: rigidheddleweaving
Tags: warping, back, front, rigid, heddle, counterbalance, loom, beaming, weaving, weaver, woven
Date: 2010-02-12

Warping Boards

Don't have a warping board? This same technique can be used on your rigid heddle loom frame as well. Once the warp threads are "beamed" then you pull them through the heddles from the back to the front by sitting at the front of the loom. The next time I warp, I'll make a video showing the next step but for now I'm anxious to get weaving :)</p>

Added by: rigidheddleweaving
Tags: warp, back, front, heddles, counterbalance, lease, sticks, loom, rigid, weaving
Date: 2010-02-10

Warp Chains Using a Warping Board

<p>This is how I make warp chains using a warping board.
